Inspiration

Observing, Waiting, Feeling

So today was one of those days, I woke up and I was so determined to get things done. Everything went really good. I was going through my “to-do” list like I was eating popcorn at the movies. And I was reading a post from one of my favorite photographers (Chase Jarvis) and I got really inspired. I was so determined to go do something creative, something unique and out-of-this-world. Well I was inspired yeah, but my creativity wasn’t there. It’s still not there or here or anywhere. But I did have a good time just enjoying what I like to do, take pictures.

I used this phrase as my inspiration: “Prepare thoroughly. Go to the sacred place. Wait. Look. Feel. Then shoot!” -David Muench

I think sometimes we just need to get out there and work hard and consistently on the things we are passionate about. Creativity is one of those things that strikes out of no where, the key is to be ready for when it does.

Awesome Weekend of Love

What an awesome weekend!
This weekend was awesome!! My beautiful grandma came all the way from Mexico City, my cousin Nick got married, my favorite cousins came and met their new cousins (my boys).
The days previous to the wedding I had the blessing of spending some great quality time with my grandma (whom I call Mom). It’s a long story but pretty much she raised me in Mexico City. A very old schooled, deep-to-the-bone catholic, and very sweet hearted lady.
You know how they say that you don’t know what you have until it’s gone? Well it’s true and it sucks. Because by the time you realize that they were right, it’s usually too late to cherish that which you no longer have. In my case it was my grandma but I was so fortunate to get one more chance. And believe me, I treasured every second I spent with her.
I wasn’t the only one who got to enjoy my grandma and her amazing cooking (and Yes, I did pay close attention on how she made everything she cooked). My beautiful Katherin and our boys got to bond with her as well. My grandma grew a special love towards Katherin, it brought a warm joy to my heart witnessing this.

On the wedding day we were all in great spirits, surrounding Nick and my new cousin Stephanie with happiness. There was a very special moment that I will never forget. As I’m sitting there, enjoying the great company, the delicious food, the amazing miracle we had just witnessed, Nick went ahead and stood in the middle of the dance floor with Stephanie and he picked up the mic, holding his new bride’s hand as tight as he could and two words later his voice just broke and as tears were rolling down his face, just sharing his heart with us, my beautiful Katherin turns and looks at me with hers eyes flooding with tears as well and says to me: “How cute, I love him”. Now you must know that if you ever meet my cousin, those 2 words are not exactly the first ones to come up in your mind, but she made me realize that love and tenderness are not something that just happens. It’s something that very few but very lucky ones get to experience. And what’s amazing it’s that it is contagious. And that’s what happened, Katherin felt the real-ness of Nick’s honest love being transmited to us all.
